Gregory G. Gomez is an associate in the Workers' Compensation department of Mastagni Holstedt, A Professional Corporation He practices in Workers' Compensation, and specializes in complex Serious and Willful Misconduct cases and Labor Code Section 132a discrimination claims. He is experienced in all stages of trial and appellate litigation in California and federal courts.

Mr. Gomez is admitted in California, as well as in the U.S. District Court, Southern, Eastern, Northern and Central Districts of California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and in the Supreme Court of the United States.

Before joining Mastagni, Mr. Gomez practiced for six years with the California Department of Justice, as a Deputy Attorney General. There, he defended the Governor's Office and State Agencies in constitutional and statutory tort litigation, including cases brought under 42 U.S.C. Section 1983, which he handled from inception through trial and appeal. He also defended the State of California in complex class action litigation, including the mental health class action Coleman v. Brown, 2:90-cv-00520-LKK-JFM.

He has had numerous demurrers, motions to dismiss, and motions for summary judgment sustained or granted on behalf of his clients, and has prevailed on appeal before California and federal courts.

  • In 2009, he obtained a defense jury verdict in Jolivet v. Scribner, 1:04-cv-05095.
  • In 2010, he had oral argument before the Ninth Circuit in Quillar v. CDCR, 08-15414.
