Christopher W. Miller supervises the Labor Department at Mastagni, Holstedt, Amick, Miller & Johnsen. Christopher is a former Stanislaus County prosecutor emphasizing labor and employment law representation and civil and criminal defense of peace officers. He currently serves as lead counsel for the California Peace Officers' Association Legal Services Program, the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs' Association, and the Sacramento County Probation Association.
Christopher is a seasoned trial lawyer with over 40 jury trials to his credit as a prosecutor and peace officer defense attorney. He has defended peace officers in criminal prosecutions for homicide, excessive force, on-duty sexual assault, and prisoner neglect. He successfully represented the Manteca MCOPS in the first open criminal grand jury proceeding in San Joaquin County and was successful in a motion to dismiss charges against a San Joaquin County sheriff's deputy in the second open grand jury proceeding in that county.
Christopher is a recognized expert on Pitchess and Brady issues and has participated in legislative efforts to amend the Penal Code to protect peace officer personnel records. He has appeared on broadcast programs involving peace officer rights and is a frequent contributor to the PORAC News, the California Peace Officers' Association newsletter, and other client publications.
Christopher was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, serving in the Persian Gulf and Pacific Fleet, and was a legislative assistant on Capitol Hill in the 1980s. He graduated cum laude from the University of California at Santa Barbara and received his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law, where he was selected a National Member of The Order of Barristers.
