Seth A. Nunley is an Associate in the Labor Department of Mastagni Holstedt, A Professional Corporation. His practice focuses on the Public Safety Officers and Firefighters Procedural Bill of Rights Acts. Mr. Nunley is a PORAC LDF panel attorney and represents clients in Internal Affairs investigations, officer-involved shooting incidents, and defense of disciplinary actions.
After nearly 14 years in government employment, Mr. Nunley entered law school and earned his J.D. from the University of San Diego. He was a Certified Legal Intern for the San Diego Public Defender’s Office and participated in a number of criminal law clinics.
Prior to law school, Mr. Nunley pursued his interests in public safety and law enforcement by serving the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. As a deputy sheriff, Mr. Nunley worked in patrol for a number of years before being selected as a full-time member of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team under the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB), where he provided advanced tactical expertise in high risk situations, hostage emergency-rescue missions, and terrorism and dignitary protection. As a collateral assignment to SEB, he was selected for the Fugitive Warrant Extradition Team (FWET), a tactical investigations squad responsible for locating violent and serious criminal offenders within and outside of California. Mr. Nunley served on the Southwest Riverside County Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) conducting narcotics and vice enforcement, testifying as a court recognized expert witness, and authoring numerous search warrants. During his last year with sheriff’s office, Mr. Nunley worked in Court Services to prepare for law school.
Before joining Mastagni Holstedt, Mr. Nunley provided legal work in Southern California, assisting in all aspects of criminal litigation.
Mr. Nunley served in the United States Marine Corps. He was deployed twice to Southeast Asia and earned an Honorable Discharge in 1998.
