Mr. Kurtz joins Mastagni Holstedt, APC with vast experience representing clients in all aspects of Workers’ Compensation, including 132(a) claims, Serious & Willful claims, third-party liability and appeals through the Workers’ Compensation system. He has extensive knowledge representing public safety workers, including police officers, firefighters, correctional officers, probation and parole officers.

While studying law at Lincoln Law School of Sacramento, he gained experience working in the Taxpayers’ Rights Advocate Office at the California State Board of Equalization, successfully recovering a significant amount of tax liability relief and reimbursement while representing individuals, business owners and corporate offices during appeals versus the California Franchise Tax Board and Board of California State Board of Equalization.

Prior to practicing law, Mr. Kurtz earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees at Saint Mary’s College of California, focusing on Operations Management and Strategic Planning. He spent 20 years in various levels of senior management, including director-level roles in technology and distribution and supply chain industries. At Lincoln Law School he received commendations for the highest grade in Legal Analysis and Employment Law. On the Bar exam, his answer on the Performance Test was recognized as the model answer out of 7,000 examinees.

Mr. Kurtz is passionate about advocating for injured workers, protecting their rights and helping clients navigate the complexities of the legal system in workers’ compensation to achieve the most favorable outcome.
