Michael Reed joined Mastagni and Holstedt as an associate in the Labor and Criminal Department. He represents first responders, and public employees in their administrative investigations including disciplinary, critical incidents, grievances and criminal allegations. In the event a client has an administrative and criminal case that arise from the same transaction or occurrence, Mr. Reed can represent his client in both arenas. With 10 years experience as a criminal defense trial attorney, Mr. Reed brings his wisdom to the other side of the aisle to help ensure our first responders and government employees are properly represented and defended.

In Law School, Mr. Reed interned with the San Diego Public Defenders Office and the San Diego Federal Defenders Office representing indigent and low income defendants charged with a crime. He served on the Moot Court Team, as President of the Environmental Law Society and graduated with the Honors of Cum Laude finishing in the top 20% of his class.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Reed worked as a traffic attorney, a criminal defense attorney with a focus on DMV Administrative matters and DUI’s (alcohol and drug) and a criminal defense attorney with a focus on domestic violence, DUI’s, and sex crimes.

Mr. Reed’s personal interests include world travel, wine tasting, soccer and baseball, gardening and education. He maintains a rudimentary Spanish language reading, writing and speaking ability from his education and living in Mexico and Spain; currently he is learning Portuguese.
