William Baird is an Associate in the Labor & Employment Department of Mastagni Holstedt, APC. He represents public sector employees in administrative and disciplinary investigations, hearings, critical incident investigations, and criminal proceedings.

William is a 2002 graduate of the United States Military Academy (West Point) and served 6 years as an Armor Officer in the Army from 2002-2008. During that time, he deployed to Iraq as a platoon leader from 2003-2004 and Infantry Battalion Logistics Officer from 2007-2008. His awards include two Bronze Star Medals and a Combat Action Badge for his first deployment. After serving, William attended law school at Gonzaga University and practiced civil insurance litigation in Denver, Colorado, eventually serving as a Deputy District Attorney in Durango, Colorado, and then in Ventura California.

William has taken over 30 jury trials to verdict, including DUI, Domestic Violence, and Sex Crime cases. He has also conducted over 100 hearings to suppress evidence pursuant to Penal Code 1538.5 or constitutional grounds. He has either initiated or responded to six direct appeals from jury trial verdicts or sentences, and has handled multiple post-conviction matters. He is licensed in California, Colorado, and Washington State.
